i sold this kit to him for $55 shipped in excellent condition which is a pretty good deal.
ever since he got it he’s been complaining that it doesn’t fit and its not the right now. now today he finally gets it in and shows me that it doesn’t completely clear the piece of plastic in the fender all the way. when the car is lowered it looks like it will knock off maybe 1/2" of plastic.
has anyone else besides me used this camber kit and can explain to this guy that that is just the way it is??
he opened up a dispute w/ paypal today and wants his money back for a product that was made for our cars. i dont see the point in returning the money on a part that does fit and that i have personally used for a few months w/o crying to the company about how it fit.
well i listened to what you said, and guess what, they did go into the control arm, but when i took the car off the lift this is what happened.
i tried switching the camber kits to the other direction but it wouldnt fit, so needless to say i want a refund.
the car is not drivable with the kits on and he does not udnerstand that…
how is it gonna make your car unsafe to drive??? the camber kit is made to
adjust the upper control arm on your car for when you lower/raise your
vehicle. if anything and if done properly, it makes your car MORE safe to
drive than just driving around on stock suspension after lowering the car.

dude, that’s how the camber kit is. you have to go get an alignment and it will eventually go in. i have the same kit on my car, i paid $180 for the full kit. I installed it myself also and was freaked out when i saw that, but once it came out of the alignment shop, it was fine.
also, if he wants a refund…i don’t think he should get the whole refund as he put that part on his car. i mean, there are a lot of members with this kit, including myself. $55 can barely get you a cheap ebay camber kit.
ok that may be how the kits work…
but it the post youve link it stats that it hits when driving…
i havent even driving the car… the camber kit causes the the control arm to hit the lining… leaving a whole lot of positive camber and about 3-4inch wheel gap…
and according the seller the only option to this is
that is just plastic that it will touch. that is not a problem at
all. eventually a piece will be broken off. no problem whatsoever.
that happened to me too. it is the way that the manufacturers made
the product. try adjusting it and putting it back in. thats the way
it was made. any third party product will never be the exact same as
OEM.
i mean it does seem like it would work is i banged in the fender lining… but why would i want to take a hammer to my car?
also, if he wants a refund…i don’t think he should get the whole refund as he put that part on his car. i mean, there are a lot of members with this kit, including myself. $55 can barely get you a cheap ebay camber kit.
this makes no sense because it is already used?, by no means was the camber kit new.
you think having some of your fender chiped off it not a problem?
first of all if i dont hammer in the fender line the car wont settle down. and it wont be safe to drive as there will be no suspension travel beacuse the control arm would get stuck…
Also, spikeymike even posted links of people who have trouble with it. It’s not a big deal. Go get an alignment and it will be put into spec. Also, what if the part is used, you installed it and you even admit to trying to put on the other way, showing that you obviously don’t know how to even install the part. I’m not trying to hate, but who knows if you caused any damage. The seller sold you the part and did not hide anything from you obviously. You should have done your research. Seriously, if you’re going to make a big deal out of it, even though the buyer and others have said that it’s not a big deal, just give the guy a refund for whatever. I’m sure those who’ve done their research will be willing to purchase it.
I adjusted the kit to where it would fit just enough to go into the fender. Then i drove it to the alignment shop and they did their magic and now it’s a okay.
So play with it until you can get it to fit in there, trust me, you can do it.
kinda hard to get an alignment when you cant drive it eh?
the thing is lifted like a monster truck with it hitting the fender line… it is very very unsafe to drive in those conditions, and i towing it will not be an option, also having them install it wouldnt be either… notice in the pictures how its sitting… that is lifting my car, and is raised higher than stock
you installed it and you even admit to trying to put on the other way, showing that you obviously don’t know how to even install the part.
yes i did, and it did not fit either way.
did not hide anything from you obviously.
he hid the part where it knocks off the fender.
ok so these are the reasons im complain other than the above…
ive already tried to install them 3 times…
1st time they didnt fit into the control arms, i emailed xchadx167 and he said to force them in,
2nd time i tried to force them in, no go… gave up because i had to get to work
3rd time, i bent the openings ont he lower control arms to fit them…
and surprisingly they fit into the control arms… but this caused the control arm to sit against the fender line…
^ so thats why im asking for a refund, because ive attempted many times to do this, and everytime i run into a fitment problem.
dont get me wrong he has tried to help, but im really not into breaking pieces of my car to make things fit…
im not trying to be a cheap ass because im in real need of a camber kit, thus me having these.
so to give you the benefit of the doubt im going to try to install these one last time and will take pictures from outside the car because u guys dont understand my explainations if its still lifted (hard to explain with no pictures) and why it is so unsafe to drive.
wow just wow, of course they’re not going to fit the control arms if you don’t force them in. they’re made like that so you have to spread the part of the control arm so they can go in, thus making them tight, because they’re not like stock. the stock one has the metal thing connect both things. second, how is it not safe to drive on it to the alignment shop? because it’s lifted? also, what do you expect? every seller to disclose that professional installation is required? also, if you did your research, you should know that they hit the fender lining. obviously, it’s not that big of deal, once you get your alignment. why don’t you uninstall it and go install it at the alignment shop parking lot then. and what’s so bad about breaking a part of the fender lining, it doesn’t really have an important purpose for the car…your camber kit is not correctly adjusted, thus the degree of the camber kit is off and the control arm cannot go inside the fender lining until it is adjusted properly.
and i don’t understand your situation? i have the SAME kit on my car and i had the same problems and it was fixed. YOU want me to take pictures for you???
Also I’m done with this thread. I hope you didn’t take anything offensive because I was only trying to help. I was in the same situation and it’s really not that big of a deal. The only problem is the alignment and getting it properly adjusted. Other than that, this is between you and the seller. I don’t think the seller did anything wrong. It’s like seller a intake and to find out it throws a CEL. The seller shouldn’t be responsible for that because the buyer should have done his or her research. Goodluck.
this is why almost everything suggests “professional installation” 65% of aftermarket parts are MADE to fit, but don’t therefore you have to modify and adjust a bit. when they say “professional installation” they mean you better know how to make it work if it doesn’t
its just the way it works… if you didnt really know what you were getting yourself into you shouldn’t have started on it in the first place… just my two cents sorry if you didn’t like what i had to say.
Dude all chamber kits do that, you should have adjusted it a bit so it WOULDN"T hit the plastic, and you wouldn’t have a problem till you got it to alignment shop.
Knowing full well that it’s a aftermarket piece and that you WOULD have to get a alignment, most people set the camber it all the way to the back/negative position till they can get it to the alignment shop, and have them set it to the proper place.
I had to bring mines to my friends alignment shop and we had to adjust it enough to give me the MOST of my positive camber back but adjust it enough so it wouldn’t hit the fender plastic piece and have it be able to swing freely.
So in no way is this the sellers fault, it’s the buyers for not carefully reading threads about installing or adjusting a camber kit.
Your suppose to adjust it a little before installing it so that you’ll have clearence to drive to a alignment shop the next day. This is more of installation error, not product fault or seller selling a bad product.
I’ve never seen a bad spc product, all camber kits you’ve seen from ingalls to little tiny brands get their shit made by SPC.
Snorky, as most everyone else has told you here, that is not uncommon with that type of camber kit. Even if you return these and get other ones of that same type, you are going to see the same results. So lets try to fix the problem.
I know exactly what you mean by “It’s still lifted”, since the arm isn’t going in the fender, the car is sitting on that arm instead of resting on the spring. you can’t drive it like that. But that can be fixed easily (without having to take a chunk out of your car).
Exactly how low is your car? If the arm is hitting the fender like that, then you have the camber kit adjusted out pretty far. you would only need it out that far if you were dropped really really low.
I just installed a camber kit on my car very similar to that one to compensate for a 1.5 inch drop, and the camber kit is set to the minimum offset. (after alignment). I have plenty of room for the arm to fit in the fender. But if I was dropped way lower, and had to set my camber kit out to the max setting, then the arm would have hit the fender like your is hitting.
From those pictures, I’d say that camber kit is adjusted out almost as far as it will go. Did you set it that far out on pupose? or did it come that way and you tried to install it without adjusting it?
Hold the Camber kit mounts next to your stock mounts and adjust the camber kit to where it is the same distance from the fender as your stock mount. Once you do that, the arm will fit inside the fender just like it did with the stock mounts. Then take the car to the shop to have them adjusted on the alighnment rack. I bet they will not have to be adjusted as far out as you have them right now.
Try that and let us know
Adjust the camber kit for less offset and it will fit in in the fender.
Don’t notch the fender now, because I truly believe they won’t need to be adjusted out that far in the end.
Do you know how to adjust them? I’m guessing you probably do, but just to be sure. Do you understand how the camber kit works, and how it is adjusted? If not, let us know and we will help.
There is nothing wrong with that camber kit, you need to go get a alignment!!! When you installed the camber kit you didn’t re-set the camber correctly. I had the same problem in my accord but 10x worse. Got a good alignment and problem fixed! Don’t refund a thing.
