as for the boost spikes, you got to machine a bit the interior of the manifold where the wastegate meets. its a crapy assembly i admit but it can become cheap and worth it. Been now over a month and no spike nor cracking issue. Boosting 6psi, going for 9 on stock engine as soon as i get a manual boost controller .
the spikes werent caused by the manifold, it was caused by the shitty wastegate that they sell, i recommend anyone running an SSAutochrome wastegate on their car to make replacing it #1 priority, with a good name brand one, ex Tial, Turbonetics. Their parts are just very cheaply made, and dont function well, the only thing i might consider purchasing from them MIGHT be an intercooler.
no issue with the wastegate here … everything comes from SS
maybe im just a lucky baller ?
Hey guys! Just getting a chance to catch up on the thread. Just letting everyone know I am still away and havnt had a chance to even put the car together! I am away in asia on business…keeping me from my car!!!argh!
Anyways, I havnt posted in a whle, not cause it blew up and and I running away… I just havnt seen the car in over 5 weeks!
I promise to post if it blows or not! (even 6-12 months later) I hope I can make the some power, I plan on going 10-12psi.
This thread is becoming interesting. Any more stories?..good and bad…post em’!
Cheers!
heres some pics of mine, everyones been knocking on mine but its a nice mani i think, i gone for a couple runs so far and this is how it looks,
its turning a bit gold! i really like it, its supposedly made from 321 stainless?
i will agree that mani does look nice, but i would think about welding up some of those i/c pipes, thats alot of couplers
damn I dont know if a bumpers gunna fit over those IC pipes.
but I agree set up looks really nice, good work
yea i got the front end on, its a skyline style r34 so its probally a little bigger than what the stock bumper allows you to run. and after a couple days of driving its starting to get even darker bronze but it still looks super nice. only thing im mad about is i was told a was buying a 6psi wastegate but im hitting like 9-10psi.
im running the xspower manifold but have a tial 35mm wastegate, when i went to get it tuned i definely had boost spiking issues like the wastegate wasnt even working. think me dremeling out the wastegate port deally would fix that problem? anybody else have spiking issues with the equal length manifold?
black90tegGS - are you running the ebay turbo kit? if so how did everything fit together? How do you like the kit? What are you using to tune?
Alrighty so i took my wastegate off and found out there was a piece of metal blocking about half the wastegate runner( causing boost spike). right after i fixed it i got it street tuned and so far the xspower manifold and bov have been holding up. only problem was the bov was leaking air so it wasnt kicking in really but got that fixed.
so the problem is fitment and welding also with alil bad CS. im soooooooooooo tempted to take the cheap route. someone talk me outta this.
1 slo gizzer- i went xspower route and have pretty much upgraded everything but the bov, id say save up and get the good stuff the first time and be done…although i found out the hard way boost is addicting and itll leave you wanting more haha, hence why im upgrading right now.
i agree about boost being addictive !
but as for SS experience, i’ve been running 9 pound daily with their turbo, wastegate and manifold with absolutely no problem !
about SSautochrome. i bought their stainless catback system. so far seems to be a great product, except that they shorted me two spring loaded bolts to bolt the muffler to the midpipe and refused to write back to me about it, even when i told them i wasnt going to pay for the other items i had won until i received my bolts. the bolts/springs/nuts that they left out cost $50+ from acura. so thats my first hand experience with them

I used regular bolt/nuts from a hardware store. Cost me $2.
black90tegGS : did you have to get an extra chunk of piping for the right side of the intercooler i see there is a cuplet on the end of that pipe, looks like about 1 foot long.
quick question???what size turbo do the kit offer. The size of the turbo and the amount of hp made is usually the cullfit to manifolds cracking. as well as the thin material.
the turbo size in the SSAC kit is : A/R 50/63
