StreetKnight408's 1990 Integra RS Build Thread

good to see you getting some engine work done.
brass guides. nice. much stronger and retain oil much better
keep up the good work

Thanks welfare! Just can’t wait to have this thing dropped in.

hey streetknight your build is looking good. where did you find a itr shift linkage? ive been looking for quite some time.

Thanks! I found the linkage while searching randomly for some b-series parts for the motor. The guy wanted only 30 bucks, so I jumped on that as quickly as could. My old linkage was hella shitty; I could make the shifter look like it was in 5th while it was in 1st.

So overall, just gotta pray for some luck.

wow 30 bucks that is a steal. some guy last year wanted 150 so i was like peace out. ill keep searching:)

Yeah it’s outrageous when people want so much money for a used “jdm” part, as they call it. XD

$30 bucks is a steel for that linkage… I thought i got a good deal on mine, and I paid $60… I love the way my car shifts with that linkage, it was probably one of the cheapest most effective things i have done to my car…

hahaha i beat you in a deal there! lol! i got a question for you. i never measured the length of the stabilizers that hold the shifter. my shifter, shifts kinda funny. like 1st gear is closer to the radio. and 2nd is almost centered. feels kinda weird. solid as hell though

Are you running a stock shifter or a short shifter???

I’m running a DA Megan Racing short shifter. What I really wanna know is if the DA stabilizer bar is shorter or longer than the type r? I never really measured them. I just stuck with my DA stabilizer bar since they were the same in thickness and only difference was the color. Was lazy and didn’t wanna have to pry off the prothane bushing.

you should use the type r stabilizer bar… I swapped the whole thing into mine, and never noticed the shifter being too far forward. Just wait till the meet, that way you can compare it to mine…

Alrighty. I’ll do that then. Cuz I still got the Type R stabilizer and shifter, was almost gonna chuck it XD

forgot to mention, i have a short shifter. when i said i swapped the whole thing, i ment used all the linkage but i installed a short shifter…

If your planning on chucking the type r shifter, I’ll buy it from you…

I might chuck it. Only thing is, It didn’t have the actual bushing piece.

we can talk about it at the meet, and you can show me which bushing piece its missing. even with the missing piece, i might still want it…

great build man you have come a long way.

Thank you captainda9!

Updates! Hurray haha!

So far, there hasn’t been too much going on. However, I have managed to:

-Hone or de-glaze the cylinder walls to reveal a nice cross hatch, suitable for the break-in.
-Washed the day lights out of the block with hot soapy water and painted it with Plum Purple Duplicolor.
-Aside from the LS/Vtec, I had a new windshield installed. The old one received a gift from the freeway; a good size rock, chipping and cracking it. Gave me an excuse to get rid of the 20 year old hard water stained, and chipped and cracked one. I requested the new one also came with the visor tint.
-Also painted the wiper arms with the left over spray for the block.

What’s next: Micropolishing and balancing the crankshaft, balancing the rods, and then onwards to assembly. Should be getting some money for the other necessary parts to get the motor running properly.

Pics:

Cylinders honed and oiled to prevent rust.

My shitty prep work. Did the job. Can’t complain.

Finished product, still a little damp.

After a few hours of drying. Pretty shiny in that smooth spot.

All prep work torn off, and all over spray cleaned off.

The chip that formed a huge crack.

Awaiting the repair man.

Tinted glass for the win! Mine is the bigger of the two.

All done!

Finished product: Purple wiper arms, new glass, and alarm shock sensor and parking permit are stuck back on.

Figured I would give a small update to my build. So I ordered a full gasket set, the Golden Eagle LS/Vtec conversion kit with machined head gasket, and micropolished my crankshaft.

Aside from the motor part, I haven’t done too much to the car, other than clean it, fix driver side window visor, and rip out every piece of trunk material out. Completely gutted trunk now. I also have ordered a rear wiper delete plug, since summertime is coming, and I didn’t really need the rear wiper anyway.

LS/Vtec Conversion kit

Rod and Main journals micropolished to perfection.

Closer pic of the journals. Very mirror like finish.

The tool we used to do the polishing.

Lower end gasket set. Got the top half as well, just didn’t take a picture lol

NICE!!! hope to see it all finished soon
