Hey, So I’ve decided to boost. After an LS-Vtec conversion(bored cylinder walls, larger pistons, hks camshafts, etc.) I’m supercharging my car. I wanted to know who here is using a supercharger kit to boost their teg, please post up and let me know how it helps performance, and what kind of supercharger kit you have. Also, wether or not the whining sound needs special attention on your kit.
your not gonna find too much on here on super chargers. there arent any kits out for DAs and there have only been two attempts at using a different car’s kit. One guy tried and failed with a JRSC and one succeeded with a vortech. you are much better off going with a turbo set up instead
dude its all about what YOU want not what these people want you to do. if you want to supercharge then just go ahead and supercharge it. its your car not theirs.
the vortech kit wll fit pretty much perfectly. but kits like the jackson racing one wont. it bolts up but it hits the firewall.
I agree with DA90LS
Dont listen to these guys. if supercharging is the way you want to go, do it. hell you might be one of a rare breed on here if you get it to work right.
why give up? vortech and procharger kits both work on our cars with almost no modification.
Really? Where did you find the kits? Almost no modification? I know atleast the battery has to be relocated.
the vortech kit wll fit pretty much perfectly.
Which kit?
I have awhile before making my final decision, I just wanted to throw that out there to see what you guys think as most of you are way more experienced with this car than me, and I’m still leaning towards the supercharged idea. What I want is a streetable top performance car that I can take to the track every now-and-then. And I want to make this car as unique as possible without it being a lambo door ground breaking sound system show machine. What I like so far is the non-lag aspect of the supercharger which I assume will give me that boost from start to finish. Superchargers spin two-three times faster than the engine is what I’ve read. The belt is driven off the crankshaft but the internal gears are smaller which give it the full force of bringing in cold air constantly. What I’m wondering after seeing the pictures of the vortech on that red integra is, how come it still rocks a blow-off valve?
ComptonsF1NEST
your sweet ass built supercharged ls/vtec will lose to an LS with a 60 trim any day of the week.
supercharging is gay.
yeah but off the line theres no lag… given with a stock 6-7.2psi pulley it will lose, but theres always different pulleys.
i do agree about personal preference… its your car, do as you want… but as with comptonsF1nest statement, hes right a turbo will pull harder when it spools up.
relocating the battery is well worth it to do when turbo or supercharging a car. the procharger kit shouldnt need any mods other than removing ac which you have to do on any car you install the kit on. with the ls vortech kit if i remember right the only mods you really have to do is relocate the battery and if you have ps i think you might have to run a 94-up ls teg ps pump.

Keep the comments and advice coming please! I’ll mostly be using what I learn off this site and others as refrence to which direction to take. I’m really liking the breathing room that a turbo allows. The supercharger looks abit cramped.
definately check out the procharger kit then… it replaces the ac compressor so you dont notice it anywhere. you have to use a different front mount intercooler with that kit i forgot to tell you. so if you buy the base procharger kit a cai intake for a g2 and a long but not very tall ic you should have one hell of a sleeper.
Sounds good, I will check that out. Thx. Please if you read through this and are using a turbo kit, suggest something so I have somewhere to start with boost. I’ll be thoroughly reading/studying upon everything I find and read through this forum/thread before applying it. Thx again.
never looked, but in my opinion and for law reasons here in california i say just go with a B16 or gsr swap. itll cost the same in the end.
but then again i have been busted for removing the smog shit and having a turbo on my 240 twice this year, so im all for not making a 3rd one. plus less cop harassment means the more fun you will have in your car. and the happier you will be.
yeah but an ls/vtec will pass smog and still carries the ls block stamp which is all cops check motorwise, where as you have to ref a b16/b18c
b20’s cannot be ref’d if you get pulled over and get a ref ticket… the ref will hand you a $1327.00 fine because its considered a truck engine in a passenger car.
boosting is always possible in cali you just have to be smarter than the cops are… thats why you print this out and keep it in your glove box http://arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/eo/D-397-7.pdf
cops are none the wiser. print yourself a fake carb sticker also, slap it under the hood… boo-yow… later cops

i would say greddy kit is you best bet, it doesn’t take a whole lot of modding to get it to fit, its cheap, and its a great sized turbo for a stock ls.
Thx guys for all the help. Nothing here will be overlooked.
90DALS: Have you read the Turbo Guide on here? Great little cheat in there if you removed the smog shit as in the catalytic convertor and replaced it with a straight pipe. I don’t know if it has worked or not but basically it says to weld in a heat sheild to the straight pipe to make it look like the heat shield is for the Cat/Hi-flow cat, but there’s no cat under it at all. Obviously at your own risk.
XSi KEro 916: THx! Got a link for that carb sticker trick?
KraZEtEggIE: Thx for the write up. Really appreciate it. As far as the Greddy kit goes, I used to really want a greddy kit but recently read, and you’ve stated, they are cheap. I don’t want to get a cheap turbo kit because if you boost, that’s one of the things that dangerous now running in your engine you know? Wouldn’t want it to fail and cause major problems, especially after paying all that money to buy it and install it and everything. So far a friend of mine has recommended Turbonetics and has a found a few of them for my car which I haven’t looked at yet but heard they are top of the line. Other than that, maybe one of them kits that are listed on G2IC’s Turbo Guide.
P.S. Does anybody know if that guy on here that successfully installed the supercharger kit ever did a write up on it? And where I can find it?
