teg tips way of re-wiring foglights-*PICS*

Just rewired my fogs today, took about 20 minutes. I already had the dash bezel off because im painting it so it wasn’t hard to get to things at all. Looks really cool! Thanks for the tip!

okay. here is what i did. very similar.

instead of gettin power from the defroster i got power from the hazard. (same volt constant power) some of u guys have to realize that a switch cuts or lets current go through, and i know u do. hence the word switch. anywayz as long as u tap into the power before the switch, then u got power all the time. but if u tap after the switch, then u only got power when switch is on.

so. when i saw the schematic (spell?) diagram for the g2s, i learned that the fog light switch is gettin power frum the left (driver side) headlight. so basically as u all know, it will only turn on only if ur headlights are on. anywayz, i cut that power and got power frum the hazards.

yes it only takes a couple of minutes but if u wanna do a really good job and take your time, then by all means.

Most people use the defroster bacause it turns on with the ignition, so you can’t leave the fogs on when you turn the car off. The hazard works all the time, so you have to remember to turn the lights off each time you turn them on.

yeah. i already took that in account. but when people wanna see them jdm foglights, it would be easier not to turn the ignition and just press the fog switches. but its cool tho cuz i alwayz look at my car when i get out and walk away frum it. yes! im one of those people. he he he. i’ve been doin it for years that i jus can’t not look at my car when i get out.

Like what the other guy said, I like it cause once you turn off your car, the lights go off. So I just keep the button pushed it all the time, as I use them for day-time running lights.

Ok i know this may be a stupid question and it is1 o’clock in the morning, i most likely didnt see properly but what wires (colours) on each switch get connected together between the fog switch and the defroster switch?

ok guys nevermind i got it but one thing… my side marker lights come on not when i turn on the fogs but i saw a pic of a car before and his weren’t on… so my markers are still coming on for the day time running lights =\

if u dont want ur side markers to come on as daytime driving lights, and u have jdm headlights… then in the corners for stock headlights… u have 2 harnesses, one for daytime driving lights, another for blinkers… so u can hook up the sidemarkers with the other harness if u’d like them to not come on until u hit ur blinkers. i have my setup to corners and markers to blink only… but i might change that soon.

ok it is my corner lights i am talking about, when I turn the car on and the lights are set to ‘OFF’ no headlights on my corner lights are on… i was driving around during the day today and saw some integras with no headlights or corner lights on and i am wondering if these are supposed to be on with lights turned to the off position and come on automatically.

any help?

to my knowledge… they arent suppost to be on unless the light switch is set to daytime running lights… if u did any rewiring, maybe u might’ve ran a acc power line to it… i dont know how that could be done, but it’s a possibility… HTH

Rewired my fogs the other day… Soldered those hard to reach- pain in the ass connections too.

The only thing is when i turn on my defroster i hear a click, sounds like a relay clicking. I’ll pop off the switches and make sure all my tape is still on there good.

You should hear a relay click - there is a relay for the rear defogger.

Oh ok, maybe I just never noticed it before.

Here is a tip… dont f*ck up like i did, read the instructions right because try soldering one wire to another while one wire is being pulled with needle nose vise grips and the other… well lets just say there isnt even a mm of wire near the wire harness to work with… got it soldered though when i took my dash apart to work on my cluster so if you do mess up… it is easier with the dash apart.

i got the buttons off but cant get the wire part pulled out? how do i get the wires exposed easy?

i had this problem at first… take some needle nose pliers and sqeeze on the square plastic lip that is sticking out. once u have button off, u will see what i’m talking about. pull and wiggle left to right slowly, and not too hard, or else u will snap pieces of the plastic off like me. u can also stick a screwdriver in the square and kind of pry it loose b4 u do the pliers thing to make it easier. if u break the plastic, no biggy, you’re defroster light will be back lit all the time tho. hope that makes sense.

Question

I was going to rewire my teg so I can turn on the fogs by themselves, but I noticed something.

My defrost does not come on when I turn on my fog lights. Is this normal? Is the defrost light suppose to come oon when I turn on the fogs?

It’s a Us car 90 Teg. The panel is as follows:
LEFT: Power Roof / Cruise / Dimmer
RIGHT: Fog lights/Defogger /hazards

danblackracing - no, that’s not normal… it’s suppost to be so u can turn your fogs on when the car is in the on position, and the defrosters can come on when the car is in the on position aswell…

where i am u have to have the fog lights turn off when the high beams come on…so the wiring is slightly different;)

That’s a North American standard…:frowning:

I’m going to rewire mine this weekend, as well as the corner bulbs. Check out the Teg Tip on Fogs.
