teg tips way of re-wiring foglights-*PICS*

That rewire on TegTips was perfect!! It’s much easier wit the dash bezel off.

I took my dash apart to paint it today. since I had everything off, I rewired the fogs. Nice!! I also got a gutter guard for .99, painted it, and now I have a sweet looking mesh grill (vs. paying $75 for one, lol)!!!

Next time I take the bezel off I’m going to extend all the wires about 6". The wire are barely long enought to get you fingers in to connect the switches!

There are like 30 wires going to those switches. You will need to take the bezel off a lot to be worth that much time.

I got these little wires from a electrical company. They are 6" long with connectors on both ends! Slick!

but you have apoint… I get bored though, lol.

yeah i painted my interior the other week, and used the oportunity to rewire the fogs, while i had the dash bezel off. that makes it soo much easier. and i didnt even need an extra wire …just spliced using a cap…

I’ve gotten the switch covers off. Then I couldn’t figure out how to pull the switch box out of the rectangular hole in the bezel, and I did not want to brake anything. So I figured I would try to get the dash bezel off. No dice. The screw on the bottom of the bezel to the left of the steering wheels is way to tight to get out. I spent 15 minutes trying to get it out and now my hand is sore.

So… What is a good way to pull out the switch boxes from the rectangular hole in the bezel so I have access to the wires to do the mod?

use some liquid wrench and spray that sucka a while, should be abe to get that screw out …i believe its waaay easier once yo have the bezel off, you just have to push them out towards the driver.

or

another way is to get somethin in on the side of the button …like a rreally thin screwdriver, and use it to push a little plastic tab on the side in, and pull the button out towards the driver …

i would recommend takin the bezel off, cuase youre bound to slip end either brake the tab, or scratch something …

to take the bezel off take take the driver kick panel off (3 screws), take the little square panel on the very bottom right of the bezel, behind there is one screw, behind the AC/heater turnin controls there are i believe two more screws, two (i think) on the bottom by the steering wheel, and two on the very top part that goes around the gauges. …HTH

Yeah, I got all the screws out… except for that one. And the liquid wrench would just drip out and not go in since the screw is upside down… (the screw for the bezel to the left of the steering wheel at the bottom). It cant be rusted in there anyway… it was just tightened way to much… so i am not sure if liquid wrench would get it out.

3/16 drill bit will work. The head will fall out. Presto!

looking at the pics in the first page, a question comes to mind, where does the power from the fog lights go to? since you are taking the power wire from the defroster, and using it on the fogs, where does the fog wire go to?

re-wired my fog light… at first i didnt get how to take the buttons out but when i did it was smooth easy process… took less than 10min around to finish everything nice and tite…

Were only moving the wire to the relay to a source that comes on when the keys are on “ON”. In stock form that wire is hot only when the main headlights are on low beam (during hi-beam it shuts off).

It’s commonly called the “switched source”. The switched source on the defogger will be hot whenever the ignition is on “ON”, therefore splicing in the fog lights’ switched input, it will also come on whenever the ignition is on “ON”.[/B]

im still lost, somebody show me a wiring diagram…

the reason i want to know is im gonna install my One Pieces tomorrow, and i wanted to make the fogs go on by themselves… im sure ill figure it out.

I finished installing the One Pieces a lil bit ago. i thought it was gonna be hard. it wasnt. i took pics along the way, so i might write up a better Teg Tip. ive got pics of all the bolts and stuff that you need to take off. it took me 3 hours to do, but i had the bumper back on and i had a burned side bulb, so i figured id drive to the store to pick up a new one, and then i remembered the guy shipped spare bulbs, and i also forgot about the lower reinforcements. so i took the bumper back off and replaced the bulb and reinforcements. while the bumper was off, i took off the resonator, it sounds sooooo much nicer with that thing off. anyways, heres a link to my cardomain site with 3 pics of the One Pieces One Piece Pictures

It’s easier to just follow the instructions than for me to give you a lesson on wiring, lol. read up on relays for education. otherwise just follow the simple Teg Tip. Also, if you plan to paint your dash bezel, wait to do the rewire that time.

i will never paint my dash, i think its the lamest thing. its my opinion. the only thing i will ever paint on my car, is the outside. thats the only thing that should be painted in my opinion. i dont know why people paint their valve covers, its lame

i repaint my valve cover… i have it matches my exterior color and i think in my opinion it pretty nice… interior i have to agree, it kinda have that dirty looks to it once u’re interior is painted… i did that once on my civic hatch… i will never do taht again…

Ferrari started it

I hooked my fogs to the defroster switch like it says to in teg tips but when i turn my ignition on my low beams come on and dont turn off till i turn the ignition off. Any ideas as to why the stay on? Is it because i didnt fully cut the fog light wire ? Thanksfo any help you guys can give me.
