SWEETCHIN how did you get the new cups (collars) for the DA? I had the cup (collar) of my sports for my DA measured by a machine shop and it measured out .078". beat’s me what that is is mm’s but it’s pretty thin, so that’s why I want to get new ones.
I can see that where it comes to where the fork is supposed to mount and the end of the shock travel (inside) is very thin. where I guess people have been having problems. I just feel unsafe putting them on my car until this get’s cleared up.
FOR THE RECORD THE PROBLEM IS ONLY WITH THE EG/DC/EK says OMNIPOWER AND THERE HAS ONLY BEEN 1 INCIDENT FOR THE DA’S.
To be clear on the NEW DA collar’s (cups), I was told by OMNI that they will not be available for a couple weeks.
yeah they actually sent me new ones but they are for a dc/eg cuz they dont fit into the forks… i emailed them over the weekend and im just waiting for a responce… my only concern is the ride height… i hear some people have been complaining that the passenger side of the car is ends up being higher for some reason and since the new collars are thicker and longer, you lose that much height adjustment
Gosh, I knew they were thin but it made me feel better that I didn’t know how thin they were in mm. damm, they are definately not going on the ride until this cup(collar) thing get’s sorted out. if you guys hear any updates let people on this site know. noone should be left in the cold to get hurt.
anyone have pics of how low it can go with the revised mounts? i read that whole HT thrad and someone said something about not being able to go an inch lower
You should be very particular about any suspension (even ours!) that you put on your vehicle that is not OEM.
The tires, wheels and suspension are some of the only things keeping your car on the road, and is responsible for you, your passengers, and other driver’s safety, so it’s not recommended to skimp on these part’s quality or make compromises simply for a low price.
Mod safely! Most quality aftermarket companies have certification for quality standards, such as ISO, JIS, TUV, DOT, etc. Research before you buy!
The results of a suspension bottoming out inexplicably and suddenly cambering in and toeing out at 80mph can put a car into an incorrectable driving situation
i un-loaded the spring pre-load from my car because the height of the ride, as low as the sleeve would go into the “cups” on 195/50/15’s is plain nasty imo…
it’s about a 3 finger gap in front to where it is the lowest, but the rear can be a nice 1 finger gap…
so i would have to remove the cups from my omni’s, then mail them to omnipower, then they would be able to send me new ones?
anyone know the price of them if i just purchase them seperately? i cant disable my car and wait weeks to get it back on my daily driver…
if you want, they can send you out new collars for no charge, but they take down your credit card info, after you recieve the new collars, you have to send the old ones back within the next 2 weeks or else they charge you $60… but they wont have new collars for DA’s for another couple weeks… im trying to see if i can find a set of eg/dc front forks
kev,
you had a 3 finger gap with preload upfront with the shock body threaded all the way down
weird because i have a 1.5 finger gap up front with preload and few extra turns and the shock body threaded all the way down. my rears can go way beyond the cars limit, t could probably make my tow hook touch the ground.
i hope omni is including a return label with the new collars because if not that kind of sucks.
thats weird cuz i had them all the way down in the fronts at first with the pre-load, and i just barely had a gap…
BTW… i got a email today saying they got in some EF front collars so i have a pair sent out to me today, so i’ll have them in a week… hopefully all is well afterwards…
also, no return shipping label
why would we wanna keep defective junk, and waste 60 dollars
yuri - i dont know… my car has always been odd with it’s suspension…
how did u guys preload them? i did it by the instructions… before install, turn the upper colars till it touches the spring & hat, after install & height is set the way you want, lower the car down, then tighten the preloading nut
right?
well, my sleeve wont go down more… i looked under, and there’s a big flathead screw… but i dont know what it’s for, and im guessing the sleeve is going against that…
could this be the after-effect of having the correct 20mm (give or take) thick cups? i saw someone say that if having the correct larger ones, it may effect how low you can set the ride height…
do u guys have the correct cups on yours? (meaning the non-defective ones)
and anyone know what that screw is at the bottom of the strut?
