yea a top mount IC is unefficent, as why most ppl swap their wrxs TMIC to a FMIC.
and a hood scoop looks like hell on a boxy da.

in the have a pile of parts to build a 1.6L b18a1 mini f1 car i only have a 3a racing seat. i doubt i will ever get around to building it tho. mustang 2 front end and and cage alone is 2g’s. i have pretty much the whole drivetrain except ctr rods and pistons.
yea, that scoop looks too big and symetrical for the location, custom sunk into the hood and asymetrically leaning to fit the flow of the hood would look cool, make it look like what i have in my head :whip:
kinda like this, the front one on the right, not the vents… but obviously over the ic and fit the ic inside a sealed chamber that vents out the wheel well (good luck with that one )
the way the ic tubing works out in your bay looks really nice
i really like that s2000 seat, how is the fitment as far as height and width, it looks like it fits in there better than the buddy club one
My friend did a similar setup to the earlier picture (all his custom turbo stuff is from an eclipse). I think as far as space is concerned you are much better off with front mount. I wonder how much air your scope sucks in. How does the car run when boosting it a lot?
I’m not a FI guy but when I was considering a FI setup I wanted to use a top mount intercooler similar to Kevin’s. Instead of using a hood scoop to draw cold air in I was toying with the idea of using some type of fan with shroud attached to the intercooler. It would function like the bottom half of a stock airbox but have a pull or push slim style fan to assist with drawing the cold air in.
Not sure if it’d work but its a neat idea.
here is the fitment of an s2k seat in an integra. i fabbed up some adapter brackets but never finished my thread.
On the pic of the 280 that style of vent is called a NACA duct. Just my .02
just painted the scoop, gotta get pics… probrably tomorrow night or the next day i’ll have em…
Anyone know where to pick up something like the Hood Vents that come on an EVO?
Like this?
looks like a vis evo hood, oem front bumper with grill molded in, tsunami? lip, and wings west skirts. i could be wrong tho.
is that a lancia delta in the background?
i just want to know where i might find the vents…ill modify the hood myself
for those kind of vents, looks simple enough as to getting a layout of it, a stencil or something… make sure it’s even when drawing it out, then cutting it with a die grinder & cutting wheel, then a little shaving to clean up, then install the mesh from the underside…
edit:
or you can just get one of these…
hehe…i may have to do this
if the ducting is right, TMICs can work VERY well. I’ve got a friend who hit 180 and had power for maybe 190 in a Thunderbird Turbocoupe, ie a turbocharged 2.3L SOHC engine with a TMIC - he had the stock IC and was running pump gas. the front end was starting to lift off the ground, which is why he didn’t go faster.
well i finished designing my charge piping… no ic for me… im sticking with chemical intercooler aka water injection.
pics of design you hobo!!
Bastid…I need to do this as well.
Morgan, straight meth or a 50/50?
hey tegboi …
thats a real good write up men. good work.
now couple of questions…
wat kind of supercharger is that, n wat kind of tmic is that too.
i preffer to do that same set up then removing my ac, when summer hits n u riding with a girl they dont want to b hot.
u get me.
GOOD WORK
