TURBO PEEPS: list the contents of your setup

Hey im a total noob to the turbo scene, but thats not gonna stop me from learning and possibly building one. I was going to go all motor, but it is way to expensive and to be honest ive always wanted an LS-T. my power goal isnt anything crazy- im looking to run 5-7 lbs of boost on a stock ls with 140k.- goal is to build a reliable turbo for under a G. (without tuning).

I was curious if those of you could list the parts your running, possibly what you might have paid, and the quality of them. EX: ssac= prob everyones gonna say there manifold cracked- im trying to see how the others are. I also want to see how fitment is on fmic’s ect.

Im probably going to piece together a kit using parts from ebay, fourms, ect. I just want to see some reliable setups so i can get an idea.

btw sorry if this is a double post, although i doubt it cause i havent come across anything like this.

teach me lol
thanks.

yoo said 1000 bills? That can be possible, but don’t know anything about it. you doing it yourself? damn I wish I had the time and tools to turbo my shit myself, I spent 5k on my turbo. but I wanted it right.

my best advice to you would be to go into the H-T classifieds section in the Forced induction for sale forum, with everyone now going K series (everyone else in the honda/acura scene other than G2IC) turbo kits for B-Series are a dime a dozen.

heres the link to the H-T FI Classifieds: http://hondamarketplace.com/zeroforum/39

there you will find countless complete b-series turbo setups for sale. they usually have good parts in them, and you will most likely score a deal there.

i dont think you will be able to do it for under a G. remmember your going to need a clutch if you dont already have one, and a fuel system. your also going to need some custom exhaust work to hook up your downpipe to your existing exhaust.

that stuff right there is going to run you at least $400-$800 depending on the quality of stuff you buy, and if you need a clutch.

as far as some of your techincal questions, FMIC fitment…get your measuring tape out and take off your bumper, i forgot what size runs real well on the G2’s, though 28" seems to sound familiar.

as far as mani’s go, ive run an SSAC mani, its junk. since this is your first rodeo, get yourself a good cast iron log, like an inline pro, or a rev-hard. there inexpensive and get the job done. look for a rev-hard though, usually the seller will include a matching rev-hard downpipe which will make your life really easy, since it will bolt right up and fit properly.

i would plan on at least $2500 to do it the right way for a reliable setup, and take it from someone who has done this a few times, you want to do it right the first time. its going to cost you double if you have to redo everything, not including the time and headaches.

well my turbo isnt on my g2 but its on my cb9 (91 accord wagon)

F22a1
DSM MANI
DSM EVO 3 Big 16
DSM 1st Gen BOV
DSM 450cc blacktop injectors
Custom downpipe
EGAY intercooler piping kit
Random Intercooler
stealthmode oil line kit
Getting tuned on CROME on 8 lbs and 12 lbs
XTD Stage 4 Clutch (I know its shit but it grabs like hell while its alive. Worth it if it lasts me even a year)

oh yeah and so far ive spent a little over $600 and with tuning it should put me right at under a $1000

thanks so far for the input, it really helps. i didnt factor in a clutch into my costs- i have a brand new stock one in there but that prob wont last long boosted.

chris- thats damn close to what i had in mind- i was thinking a revhard mani

as for this dsm manifold, does it bolt right up? ive seen alot of people saying their using that, i didnt think it would fit.

btw: i normally whore out my car so here it goes.

Stock clutch will slip in gears like 3rd and 4th where you dont have the power to really break loose but the power is getting put down.

i ran a stock clutch on a stock LS with 10lbs of boost and burned up the stock clutch in a week. gods honest truth.

DSM Mani will not bolt up. i heard rumors that they fit F and H series motors with some modification though.

yeah like i said my setup is for an accord not a teg. If you redrill the stud holes on the dsm mani, it will fit an h23 and f22aX and i think the f22b dohc(?). The great part is is that even though an ls has 140hp and is a dohc and you boost on 8 lbs, depending on the size of the turbo you will barely hit 200. Now my f22a1 is 125hp stock and its a SOHC motor, on that same boost your almost guarenteed to hit atleast 200 on the same setup. Gotta love the amazing head flow of an f22a

oh yeah and there is no way a stock clutch, brand new or not, will hold boost. Slipping will occur any time u get into full boost not just in 3rd or 4th gear

i have a dsm bov for $50 shipped. email me at mukeshm13@yahoo.com

well im not ready to buy shit yet, i havent planned out what i want yet but thanks anyway.

nah dude got rid of the G2. saving up for a K20A2 and a White 99-00 EK Coupe. yeah i still chill with Kyle, every week or so. all ive been doin really is saving money, nothin else. fucking K-Series is expensive as shit. and it seems all of my old B-Series stuff is worth nothing these days. I cant even sell my B18C for $1600!!!

eh my clutch held just fine in 1st and 2nd, its the tires that didnt. but when i put it into 3rd and 4th it just burnt up the clutch.

I might know someone that will take it off your hands, I can’t wait till I get my car back, turbo is so much fun.

that would be awesome man!

turbo is alot of fun…be careful though, 300+ will get away from you real quick lol.

:umno: hmm i love how noone is listing anything bout there setups. awesome

heres my old setup:

Stock Internal B18A
SSAC Manifold
Turbonetics Evo W/G
T3 Super 60 turbo
Rev Hard Downpipe modded to fit
Precision Intercooler
2.5" I/C piping
DSM 450’s
DSM BOV
SAFC
Exedy Clutch

Ran its ass off for about 6 months, then blew up. was running 10Psi of boost.
car was a blast to drive, would spin clear through 2nd. hook in 3rd and take the fuck off.

In my old EK i had:
Single Cam D16Y7
D16Y8 Intake Manifold
HF Modded Manifold for turbo
DSM turbo/downpipe/wastegate
JRC I/C
DSM BOV
FMU
Clutch Masters Clutch

That ran well for a little over a year. could take GT Mustangs and swapped civics. but then i sold everything and went B series.

yea I know, that shit is fun as shit, I love it. So You took apart the teg? when you gonna get the ej? turbo or just k-series? there was a guy up at import sports with a turbo ej k20, that shit was a sleeper! I saw the intercooler, but I was expecting to see a b-series when he popped the hood, but that k was plain sex…

Yeah the teg is gone. the civic is going to come last, im getting the swap and all the necessary parts first then i will buy the car and put everything in. its going to be NA. hows Steve down there at import doing? havent talked to him in a long time. turbo K is cool, but i dont really understand it. you can fully build a K24 for the price of a turbo kit, and have 300+ NA Whp.
