turbo with obx lsd question

ok so we all know im goin turbo yada yada yada, i got a guy 3 hours away from me that wants to trade his long ys1 with obx lsd for my long ys1 non lsd +$150 ineed some quick feed back on this because i will have to drive there on thursday and its already early early wednesday (1am), so is this a good deal and is the obd lsd worth it for my turbo project? and will i have any problem with snaping axles or anything, heard things here and there about lsd+axles=snap

if you’d have enough power to snap em, at least you’ll snap em both and be cool…

does yours grind? does his grind? are you sure? it’s always a risk with these things unless you’ve driven it yourself, and know that they pull out that tranny…

obx lsd though, no clue if they’re good or bad… just the name… obx… hasnt really had my vote since they came out with parts…

things change though… so… iunno… i’d like to know more info about the obx lsd also…

well im swapping mine at his house, and hes a good guy with good vouches, so i will know within 5 minutes of swapping them if it grinds cause i will have to use it to get back home

when the acura-integra.com forum was still up they were talking good about the obx lsd and how some race teams started using the obx helica lsd, so you MAY wana get it…thats just my $.02

maybe its just buyers anxiety, but i really dont want to start snapping axles or anything, ive never dealt with lsd before and i dont know what its gonna take to keep it going or anything, its a good deal just looking for some positive feedback i guess because he said that with excessive wheel hop the lsd with break axles and i cant afford to be replacing axles every other week, hell i cant even afford my turbo kit!

OBX LSD is about the only thing I have heard they made good stuff on.

Dont give him any money til your sure the tranny is ok…make sure you get it up to high speeds though and listen for bearing noise.

i planned on fully testing it first, hes got good vouches so im trusting him, not sure if i have money the money now neways

ok so i think i might maybe be going with it, maybe its just buyer anxiety, i guess if lsd snapped axles that bad it wouldnt be put in stock trannys, right

…i guess… but i’d say go with it man, if you snap axles like that its time to upgrade axles, IMO

u ended up not even having the money to begin with because i had to go by my books for school this semester so if he still has it next weekend im gonna try and ride up and get it

NOOOOO, its no-lsd + boost = broken stock diff.(when you break your diff, the tranny case normally goes tooo)

well im gonna hope he can hang on to it for a little while longer, im ls/vtec though wouldnt a short geared tranny with lsd be better then a long geared with lsd, or would the long geared be better for turbo?

well its my daily, i want to do some showing off of course, show up the ricers around here, and make the occasional trip to the track, im not really into street racing, there are some real nice windy roads around here i like to sport around

Actually it would be time to upgrade things like motor mounts, and get a z10 or equilvalent suspension modification. Wheel hop is what breaks axles, if you control that you can run a crazy amount of hp to the stock axles and never have a problem.

well i have place racing motor mounts so thats done, im gonna be getting full-race traction bars, and i have tein springs and tokico illuminas but i want ground controls, so that stuff should be taken care of. my real question is if long or short gears would be better for turbo

i found a b16 s1 tranny for 50 bucks because its got a messed up differential, if i knew getting an lsd to put in it would fix it i would def. hit that up

…now that i think about it, wouldnt that just be the case w/ a turbo that spools quick(2k rpms) and ‘runs outta juice’ early (4k rpms)??? thats just me thinking again somebody correct me if im wrong :clap:

well i found a jdm y1 with lsd for 200 so i think im gonna pick that up, but then i need to get a new clutch
