Allright so I need more power. The LS is fun but i’ve pushed it to the limit and found that it’s lacking what I want. So i’ve narrowed it down to one of the two (maybe both in the future). Of either adding VTEC, or a turbo (super?) charger to my stock car. Any suggestions?
Vtec and turbo arent even in the same ballpark…the question i would be asking is Vtec turbo or Ls turbo.
Turbocharge it.
/thread
you know what I found out. it’s cheaper to find a integra that is already turbocharged than it is to turbocharge yours. if I had to do it again, that’s what I would do.
there’s so many people that have gone this route and now there being sold everywhere.
Yea, I’ll buy someones car that has been raped daily.
Get vtec, you might hurt yourself.
wow its been a while since i posted on g2ic… (nov 05)…
well i’ll give you my reasons i’m going with a Turbo LS…
i’ve had a poor mans ITR swap in my 93 teg now for a couple years… its fun… but i have to rev the piss outta it to get power… worse i have a LS tranny in it still… too tall gearing for vtec motors…
the car is my daily driver… i rarely take it past 4k rpm… why waste a vtec motor when never making it into vtec… ??..
i’m going with a smaller turbo … not looking for HUGE power here… maybe 230 whp max… but small turbo that gives me full boost of 10 psi at 2500 rpm… the LS motor red lines at what 6800 rpm? so if i really need to run up the rpm… no big deal… but having power and torque down at bottom end will make it alot more fun for me to drive and keep the rpm down so as to not attract unwanted cops attention.
if your the type that likes to rev the piss outta your engine, go for vtec but turbo will make more power either way…
lsvtec turbo if you want huge power and revs
speaking of raped, anyone wanna buy my raped turbo’d G2?
turbo, it is more work in the long run, but the power gain is almost 3 fold
speaking of raped, anyone wanna buy my raped turbo’d G2?
how much?
I dunno, never really thought about selling it. just joking about it
Hm, alot to think about… Well my car is my daily driver, but on occasion (someone cuts me off, or I see some damn ricer) I’ll tend to rev real high, and possibly “Drive really fast” along-side of them. Right now it’s a perfect little get-up-and-go car, but when I do start driving fast i’ll usually get close to redline, say 5.5k-6.0k before I shift. So I guess it’s a toss-up… I also heard that it’s pretty hard to convert a non-vtec into a vtec. So I dunno, if someone knows like price of both, and how hard each installation is then that would help too.
The couple of questions I would ask myself are:
- how much money do you have to play with??
- is the car going to be daily driven much?? (determine reliability)
- are we talking about boosting on a built motor or stock??
those are a few. Then when you answer those there would be more to ask. personanly if the car is not a daily driver and you had the money I would build a high reving vtec motor and throw a good side turbo on it… the caracteristics of both motors are so diffrent. The ls moves through lower rpms but dies out up top…but the vtec motor has a gradual pull and doesnt peak out until redline…
ur call.
ye if you give us info on the cash that would help too, heres my opinion since i bascially have both maybe i can help,
i have a DA with an ls, t25 at 6.5psi its very torqy, and a fast car and its full spool at 3k and the power is usable, its doesnt rev up high tho only 6k, i also kept my stock ls tranny, i hear the turbo and bov more than i hear my exhaust, i dont need to downshift often
my twin brother has a 92 eg with a jdm b16 w/type r cams, it has no torque, makes great power vtec kicks in at 48000 up high to 8,6000, you hear nothing but killer vtec that screams, needs to downshift alot, ls tranny is not a good match for this motor you would need to buy a b16 gsr etc,
both are daily driven in the summer seasons, both are acheivable between 2-3,000$, both installations are not particularly ez to install, both are fun if you are confused feel free to ask

lol those revolutions are higher than F1 race cars

the ls tranny is definetly not a way to go with an engine like that; i’d consider it a waste of a “package”
i love 48000 revs LOL
i think he got a lil happy with the zero button LOL
Have any of you guys heard about the Drag Turbo kits? I have a 93 blue Integra LS with a JDM GSR motor swapped in with all the bolt ons and a type R cam running Greddy E-manage and a 255 fuel pump… Basically all I’m missing is the turbo setup… Its going to be putting down ridiculous power, but what kit is the question… anyone have ideas? or opinions on the Drag or others?
Thanks
www.turbo-kits.com this site has some ideas as far as kits go. most people on here piece theres together because usually you can save some $$ but it’s up to you.
I’ve heard nothing bad about Drag kits except if you want to go with more power that the engine management won’t handle it, but it looks like you got something for that already so your set.
haha im sitting here reading what you guys wrote like what the heck are they refering to  , haha i see now i guess i need some sleep thats a heck of motor reving to almost 100,000rpms ahah… you guys knew what i meant tho oh yeah and both cars make around 200,000hp lol
If you really want the best of both worlds get a gsr b18c engine and trany and start from there. the torque on the gsr motor is about the same as the ls but it has 30 more hp stock. I would go that route. Cheaper route is to turbo ur ls b/c for 3 grand you can build a turbo kit that will put you at about 240whp depending on set-up and boost. thats would be about 100 more hp than the gsr in stock form… up to u
