[QUOTE=white92LS531;2166116]Finished up with the coolant and washer res in place to get an idea of how it looks. The ziptie about halfway down the framerail will be replaced with a Milspec Adel clamp, everything else will use OEM wire management.

you might run into belt clearance issues, i ran my harness the same way and i had to put it underneath the frame rail with the power steering lines if you skim through my build thread there should be pics of it
Gonna update on the vinyl repair later today. Turned out pretty good, still wanna touch a few sections up.
Stevo, im not running A/C or P/S so ill be using a CTR N1 pulley. that should give me enough clearance since is doesnt have the extra sections for A/C and P/S.

are you going to be driving this car daily? not running a harmonic damper could hurt things if/when the car idles for a while, especially if the motor sees a lot of stop and go like traffic.
but if its going to be at high RPMs most of the time, go for the N1. just an observation.
I will be driving it daily. Maybe ill just try to find a factory pulley thats been machined. Im not even sure if thats what would be in the way of my harness, i was just mentioning it.
well, im sure you know, tha factory power steering hard lines lines run right there, i actually chipped a large chunk of the PS pulley and was going to just do away with the damper too. but i saw first hand how INCREDIBLY harsh the car idled as compared to having the OEM damper on it.
now you know that there are some other options out there than OEM right? ATI makes dampers for our cars. they are a bit pricey but i would rather pay another 300 bucks for the peace of mind that my crankshaft isnt going to get warped or scored because i had to idle in rush hour for an hour waiting for an accident to clear or something.
you CAN have the OEM one machined, just make sure a reputable shop does it, an unbalanced damper is worse than not having one at all, for both reliability and NVH levels. be sure to have them balance it (kinda like a tire shop does to your wheels/tires)
i tried reading back a few pages to see what all the sharpie X’s are for but i cant seem to find it, what is the purpose of them? im just curious is all.
Had a look at the ATI dampers. Looks like thats the way ill go. I want the “Race” damper right, i beleive thats the one without the Ps and AC sections.
The sharpie marks are marking spotwelds i wanted to fill in. I was previously working in a garage with terrible lighting and it was easier to keep track of the areas i wanted to fill by marking them. Kind of useless now that the car is outside, o well.
Im sure you could have your stock pulley machined and ballanced for cheaper then the ATI dampner. even thought the ATI one would be a sweet addition to your engine bay
Bump to the top. Back to work! Got a bodyshop quote, picked a color (i think lol).
In the process of doing the manual belt swap. There will be major updates coming!
Little update, got the hardware and cut my plates out for the manual belts. Picked up a unibit to open the holes up in the pillar, etc. Getting them welded on this weekend, hopefully.
I am interested in a Manual Seatbelt conversion install thread/writeup. Can you take pictures of your progress or steb by step with the seatbelt install? I will be doing the same and I would like to see how others have done it
Will take pics, but it wouldn’t be much of a write up. Basically make paper templates for your plates. Then transfer them to your steel, cut em out and weld them up.
Mocked the plates up today, started raining tho so I didnt get to finish getting all the mounts ready. Let me know what you guys think. I based the center “female” buckle mounting on the placement of the JDM armrest vs the length of the restraint.
The b pillar mount has to be trimmed a bit thinner as it overlaps the flat section of pillar by a bit.
The lower retractor mount I made deliberatly longer. I’m going to try to make a bend toward the bottom and hopefully my welder can get in there to weld it.
Bump. No comments on the mounts?? I was hoping someone that has done this would chime in before I finalize all this.
Looks good to me. I hopefully will be doing the same if I can get my hands on a set of manual seat belts. I have 2 of the high rise armrest. The first one I bought came with only the"U"bracket and not the legs so I bought another one from my source in New Zealand so I could duplicate the legs. I will sell the 2nd one or do a trade for some manual belts. The placement of the female portion of the seat bets looks good to me. I have a link to someone elses manual seat belt install if you want me to send that to you for a comparison. Also, where did you get your seat belts from and how much did you pay? Well all is looking good.
I bought the belts from a fellow member last year I think. There’s pics farther back in the thread the day i got em. Don’t remember honestly. It was only the belts and I wanna say 150 ish. I read you can take them out of another car but Im not sure. I’m gonna make the plates final tomorrow, didn’t have a big enough bit to drill the pillar holes out. In the meantime I got a couple things from some members.
Pretty minty pair of 92-93 tails, thinkin about sanding the lettering off and doing an overall wetsand and polish
Heater duct, plug and air knob minus A/C button, so I can make the a/c delete final.
Drilled one of the holes to get a mockup of the plates. The first b pillar plate I cut has to be narrowed significantly to weld to the pillar so I Came up with a new design that wraps around the pillar.
Looks good. I think that its a good idea to have the plate wrap around the pillar.
If I am not mistaken, the CDM/JDM high rise armrest mounting bracket legs are supposed to mount to the back side of the seat rails where the bolts go through to secure the seat on the CDM and JDM models. It appears that the mounting for the seats between the USDM and JDM/CDM are different. With all that said, are you going to custom make new leg brackets for the armrest?
Yea the JDM armrest legs don’t match up to the USDM spots at all. So think I’m gonna take the 2 lower brackets off the armrest and make a custom set that will fasten easier.
I will have to do the same with my armrest. Have you modified your seat rails yet? Is it hard?
i also saw in another thread that you will be adding the stock door locks. I will be doing the same. I have a 91 LS with full GS-R interior including the door panels. I have the GS/GS-R door harnesses and door lock modulator, but I think that I need the dash harness, fuse box, door lock control module, and relays? I am not sure to be exact. I have looked everywhere that I can to see if someone has added stock door locks to a LS using OEM parts but no luck. I had a 92 GS in mint condition back in my high school and college years that I have missed since the day that I sold her and I am restoring/building the 91 LS to GS/GS-R/XSI standards/options.
I have to say that I have enjoyed reading your thread and seeing the progress.
