vtec cams cannot be used in non vtec heads and vice versa. They have different cam profiles and the rocker arms are different.
anyone got pics of there motor, i havent got a header yet and was wondering how clean everybodys were, i already have polished cai cut to short ram and a polished strut bar, and i think im gunna put my 98’ b18b valve cover on this weekend because i painted it high heat red, i taped the honda motor co. off so thats polished up and the valve cover looks sick plus i got a polished oil cap to…the valve cover looks like the itr’s but without the flake…
Do a search on ‘engine bays’ for pics.
As for the letters on the valve cover, you could of just painted them, then when the paint dried, lightly sanded them back to aluminum again.
thats what i did, well actually i did paint over the letters the i just sanded them down then tryed buffing them
here is a few of my engine pics(old), im gettin my engine rebuilt too so there is 1 pic with my new pistons
damn dude that block is fresh :ohyeah:
thanx, im puttin wiseco 9.5-1 comp pistons
eagle rods
crower 404’s
crower titanium springs and retainers
the head was ported and polished
blox intake manifold and a whole bunch of other goodies
hopefully i have it running this sat
you got to keep me updated, your setup is just about what i want, are you gunna get it tuned and dyno it?
yeah soon as i break the motor in cause everything is pretty much new on it here is a couple more pics
what are you using for engine management
got my ecu chipped by chris at xenocron
sweet well hope everything goes good for your build :excite:
cool, thanx
Just curious why you put sealant where your headgasket goes? Most builders say not to, there they are now…:whisper:
Nice build, you should be close to 180whp, oh, forgot your only 9.5:1 compression, nevermind.
wow, have you ran a metal head gasket motor with selant on it before? there not made to have selant, i actually wash my new head gaskiets with simple green degreaser and air dry them because they have a little oil from factory so they dont rust. the cleaner the better.
i didnt put the sealant my mechanic did
sealant on a headgasket is a big no-no. no offense but does your mechanic know what hes doing? i hope the block guard was installed before you got the hone & bore and NOT hammered in.
someone here said alot of ls/vtec owners dont daily drive their cars. FALSE. the myth about ls/vtec not being reliable needs to be killed. motors blow because of bad builders & bad drivers. search for “ls/vtec”, they are PLENTY reliable.
200whp? more like 160ish which is not a bad number very fun and torque-ey. 200whp is very very very hard for a nonvtec.
toda killer cams? super way overkill never will be streetable.
sorry if i sound like im bitching but i just want false info to stop spreading. but good luck on the build it should def be a fun car especially once you get a short geared trans, makes a world of difference
the machine shop put the block guard in ,an as far as the mechanic goes i guess im gonna find out if he knows what he is doing when i get my car back
Simplex isn’t questioning who installed the block guard, but when was it installed - before or after the hone.
man that picture hurts me, its such a clean build and hes like icing a cake with that head gaskit its really piling on.
