sounds good, i was running an ssautochrome ramhorn style mani, didnt brace it or anything ran that for a while and had no problems whatsoever with it. the only thing i complained about is it took up alot of room, but w/e it looked real nice to the n00bs that looked at it. hope it works for you.
Here are some pics of what I got from ssac…
This is one of the parts that could use a little improvement. notice the inside of the pipe slightly blocking off the hole in the flange?
I just noticed that it looks like I may have some serious clearence issues with the DP, but I won’t know till I mock it up.
Also, I just got my cams today from the guy who bought my toda’s. He included some b17a cams as partial payment. From what I have researched, the cam specs are identical to b18c1 (94+ gsr) cams. But, I don’t know if the rocker arm ratio is the same between the b17, b18c and b16a which would change the specs. anybody know?
Update!!!
I have been slammed with school (finals this week), got my hours doubled at work, and I have been trying to finish this damn Talon I was talking about before. With my Plymouth Laser sold, I can finally afford to move foward with my car.
My head has been machined, including decking the head (just enough to get it flat), a valve job, new OEM valve seals, and ITR valve springs installed.
Still waiting for King Motorsports to finish up my block work. They are taking FOREVER!!!
haha king motorsports is doing your block, but your using ssautochrome turbo parts, im not knocking you at all but its sorta ironic, at least you put your money where it counts.
at least you put your money where it counts.
Exactly! lol. I’m just using the ssac mani and dp, turbo is garrette and wastegate will be a Tial.
King is just doing the machine work, I’ll do the assembly. King’s machine work pricing is actually pretty competitive, and they are the only one’s around here that specialize in Hondas. I didnt want it done by the same people that also build motors that are stone-age technology (cough domestics cough)!
Also, I had the headwork done by Brian at a place called Extreme Speed. He does really good work at an excellent price (plus he gives me a discount since I bring him so much work). I would never have him do port work on a Honda head, cuz he’s a “Hog out as much as possible” kinda guy when it comes to porting. He did say that it looked like there was port work already done to the exhaust side of this head. I just hope it’s not going to hurt my mid-range.
i thought i would point out, one major difference between b16 and itr heads is that the itr comes with a (very) basic hand port job from the factory. (flame away if you want, i read this one either a honda, or spoon or such site. i know it was a reliable source although i cant remember where it was)
Yes, I too have heard this. Thanks tho.
Ordered the remaining parts to complete the assembly of my motor. Machine work at King set me back quite a bit more than I expected. I guess I didnt anticipate 6 hours labor charge when I asked them to do the bearing sizing for me. Ah well, at least I know I’ll have the right clearences. Unfortunately the unforseen $360 was just enought to prevent me from purchasing the rest of my turbo parts and I am out of time with my loaner motor, so I’ll be breaking the motor in NA. This way I’ll be able to work out any bugs before force feeding it!!!
da1spaz347 are u the guy that did that how to build a motor in under 10 min video?
Its always better to break a motor in NA anyway, its easier and smoother, and you have much better control over things.
lol, yes redheadpyro, that was me. I wanted to do another vid of this motor, but I can’t afford the time it takes. Recording that last build made it take like 10x longer and I’m under pressure to get this motor out of my car so I need to build it as soon as those damn bearings come in. Don’t worry though, I’ve got other B-series builds lined up in the future that I can record.
bummer i was really looking foward to another build video on a b motor.
im puttin my motor together this fall, maybe if your nice ill vid that
Woke up at 4:30 this morning to clean the garage and begin assembly. Since my bro happens to be in town with his baller ass cam (Dual-lense Kodak), I’ll try to take a bunch of pics and make a lil vid of those. Im so excited.
Motor built and installed! I’ve got about 43 miles on it so far. My house was pretty insane the last three days. Here I’m thinking I am going to tackle it alone, but my Dad showed up (the man who taught me how to use the tools) followed by a bunch of my friends. Plus there was a constant flow of people who drove by, saw what was going on, and stopped in. I almost spent more time giving other people jobs then I did work myself!
Runs pretty damn good, but I’ve got a few bugs to work out. Tomorrow will be another day for wrenchin. I’ll try to get pics up soon.
:pixstfu:
glad you are down with astrology, im a virgo. how can you determine how much hp will be made on a motor without knowing what turbo he will be running.
stock gsr or simple ls/vtec motor running stock internals and a basic greddy kit can make 300hp. it’s not a hard task really. glad to see you got your motor running tho. what are the specs on your motor? did you get some gsr cams yet? i will trade my gsr cams for your toda’s if you want.
alright Ill get pics up tomorrow, geez… lol.
